Amy Stolls’s Young Adult novel, Palms to the Ground,
was published by Farrar Straus & Giroux in 2005 to critical
acclaim and a Parents’ Choice Gold Award. Stolls received an
MFA in Creative Writing from American University and a
sprinkling of gray hair from her years as an environmental
journalist covering the Exxon Valdez oil spill in Alaska.
Currently, she is the Literature Program Officer for the
National Endowment for the Arts, where she has worked since
1988 as she advises and collaborates with thousands of
poets, prose writers, translators, journal editors,
booksellers, publishers, educators, and literary presenters
around the country to keep literature a vital part of
American society. She resides in Washington, DC with her
husband and a baby boy.
